About Line Marking Sunshine Coast

What this site is, what it is not, and how the standards information on it is put together.

What this site is

This site connects Sunshine Coast property managers, businesses, schools and body corporates with local line marking contractors. When an enquiry comes in, it goes to a contractor who works in the area and is appropriately qualified for the job.

All work is carried out by appropriately qualified contractors.

Why the guides are here

Line marking looks simple from the outside. Somebody paints lines. In practice a good deal of it is governed by published standards, and most of the people arranging it, facility managers, body corporate committees, business owners, school business managers, have never had reason to read them.

That gap is where money gets wasted. A car park gets marked over a failing surface. Accessible bays get repainted in a layout that was never compliant. Two quotes get compared as though they cover the same scope when one excludes removal and the other does not.

So the guides here try to explain what is actually going on: which standard covers what, why bay width and aisle width are related, what removal does to a surface, and what a quote should itemise so you can read it properly.

If a page here helps you work out that you need a resurface rather than a re-mark, it has done its job.

How the standards pages are written

Several pages describe Australian Standards, the National Construction Code, Queensland work health and safety requirements and council approval arrangements. That is the most useful information on the site and also the most likely to go out of date, so a few commitments about how it is handled.

  • Everything is dated. Each page describing a requirement says when it was written.
  • The source is named and linked. Accessible parking and building requirements go to the Australian Building Codes Board and Standards Australia. Work health and safety goes to WorkSafe Queensland. Road and approval questions go to Sunshine Coast Council, Noosa Council or Transport and Main Roads.
  • Where this site and the source differ, the source is right. That is stated on every page that touches a requirement.
  • Dimensions are described rather than quoted. Specific figures change between editions of a standard, and a number copied onto a website is not something to build from. Pages explain what is required and point you at the current standard for the figures.
  • You are pointed at the right professional. A line marking contractor is not the person to answer an access compliance question, a WHS obligation or a road approval. Those go to an access consultant, a building certifier, WorkSafe Queensland or the road authority.
  • Nothing here is professional or legal advice. It is general information about how the system works.

What you will not find here

  • No testimonials or star ratings.
  • No gallery of past jobs. Photographs on this site are illustrative only and do not depict specific jobs.
  • No guaranteed response times or warranty claims.
  • No prices. Line marking cost is driven by quantity, access, preparation and removal, and a single figure that ignores those is misleading. The cost guide explains what moves the number instead.

What to expect when you make contact

  1. You give the site address or suburb, roughly how many bays or metres, and whether it is a re-mark or a new layout.
  2. Because line marking is measured in bays and metres, you often get a realistic price on that alone, without a site visit.
  3. Where a visit is needed, one is arranged. That means measuring, checking the surface condition and looking at access and timing.
  4. You get a written quote that itemises quantity, material, preparation, removal, symbols, timing and traffic management, so you can compare it against another one properly.
  5. If there is a deadline attached, an audit, a complaint, a lease date or a handover, say so up front. It changes what gets scheduled first.

Check the current requirements before you rely on this

The standards and compliance information across this site was written in September 2026. Australian Standards, the National Construction Code, work health and safety requirements and council arrangements all change.

Accessible parking and building requirements: the Australian Building Codes Board at abcb.gov.au and Standards Australia at standards.org.au. Work health and safety: WorkSafe Queensland at worksafe.qld.gov.au. Roads and approvals: Sunshine Coast Council at sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au, Noosa Council at noosa.qld.gov.au, or the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads at tmr.qld.gov.au. Where anything on this site differs from those bodies, they are right and we are not.

We are not access consultants, certifiers, engineers, WHS consultants or lawyers. Nothing on this site is professional advice about your property.

Questions

Common questions

Is this a line marking company?

This site connects Sunshine Coast property managers, businesses, schools and body corporates with local line marking contractors. All work is carried out by appropriately qualified contractors.

Are the photos on this site real jobs?

No. Photographs on this site are illustrative only and do not depict specific jobs. That is stated in the footer of every page.

Why are there no prices?

Because cost is driven by quantity, access, surface preparation and whether removal is needed, and those differ enormously between two similar looking car parks. The cost guide explains what actually moves the number.

Why do you not quote exact dimensions from the standards?

Because specific figures change between editions, and a number copied onto a website is not something to build from. The pages explain what is required and point you at the current standard and the right professional for the figures.

Why are there no reviews?

This site does not publish testimonials or ratings. For a contractor's track record, ask for recent comparable sites and speak to those clients directly, which is more useful than a testimonial anyone can write.

Can you give me advice on an access complaint?

No. Obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act are a legal matter and warrant your own advice. An access consultant or building certifier can assess what is actually non-compliant on the site.

What areas do you cover?

The Sunshine Coast and hinterland, from Caloundra and Beerwah in the south through Kawana, Maroochydore and Nambour to Coolum, Noosa and up toward Gympie.

What happens after I make an enquiry?

You describe the site and the size, and you generally get a realistic price without a visit, because line marking is measured in bays and metres. Where a site measure is needed, one is arranged.

Next step

Send the site and the size

Address or suburb, rough bay count or metres, and whether it is a re-mark or a new layout. That is usually enough for a price without anyone visiting.
